y'all know that joke/story about the man in the flood who climbed on his roof? he's up there and his neighbors come by in a canoe, tell him to get in they're getting to safety. he says no, god will save him. search and rescue come through with a speedboat...he says no, god will save him. they're doing their last attempt with a helicopter, and the guy says nope, god will save him. guy drowns in the flood. when he gets to heaven he asks god why he didn't get saved and god says "you idiot, i sent a canoe, a boat, and a helicopter!"

Yes!!! I brought this up at the end of a church service with the group I usually sit with. I did not even mention the correlation to the vaccine but some people got really riled up and angry and accused me of “opposing god” I laughed. I’ve told this joke before to them before the pandemic. And no one got pissed off.
Sceptz :
He died from COVID-19. What is really sad is that his death was avoidable. Not only by getting vaccinated, at no cost. But he [refused early medical intubation and ventilation](https://www.joemygod.com/2021/07/anti-vax-christian-activist-dies-of-covid-at-age-34/?__cf_chl_jschl_tk__=pmd_f2a22ce4218d79f77244b3b58e7c5f2692214258-1627041915-0-gqNtZGzNAiKjcnBszQjO). I don't understand this thought process, it's like an unintended suicide at that point.
It’s like the sunk cost fallacy. This guy has (had) invested so much of his time and effort being an anti-vaxxer that when it came to him getting ill he probably thought that his next best move was to double down on his position that it’s “just the flu” or it only kills the frail and elderly. He wouldn’t want to be the guy who had to admit he was wrong. So he refused to let others be right until it actually killed him. Edit: a word
namine55 :
This guy died. He was 34 and a member of the Hillsong Church and an outspoken anti-vaxxer.
I hope this draws some attention to what a fucking cult Hillsong is. I think we're eventually going to find out there's some Scientology-level fuckery going on there.
ninja__throwaway :
Here's a few things I don't understand about people like this. Disclaimer, I have friends and family from both the extreme left and extreme right. The people that refuse the Covid vaccine and resort to their faith are the same people that end up in the hospital as they fight Covid. I thought they didn't trust nurses, doctors, science or anything else? They'll use basically anything else that came about through science(including using a smartphone...on the internet...to put a post on social media) as well as getting their flu shots every year; but, a vaccine for a worldwide pandemic virus is where they draw the line. Somehow they believe the anti-christ or One World Order is what the virus AND vaccine is leading toward. Essentially, they're afraid of being controlled and manipulated; but, all they're showing others is that their beliefs are controlling and manipulating them.
On Sunday: “The Lord is my Shepard…”. On Monday’s Facebook rant: “you are all sheep!!!”
VitaminZebra :
Ok but like..this is a double homicide. lol
Yea, that last line got me.
Acherstrom :
Do people feel sorry for the sick that refuse treatment and vaccines? I’d like to say that I do… but I don’t.
I feel bad for the doctors and nurses that put up with all their totally preventable BS.

Masks>miracles On the reality scale

imrealbizzy2 :
I'm a compassionate person BUT these people who won't do their part in curbing a pandemic don't get my sympathy. With one exception, everybody in my circle has followed the rules from the day they were handed down. That one exception has been excluded from indoor activities and close contact. That political inclination was ever attached to this disease at all is squarely on Chosen One and Fox, so they can claim the bodies and boast of how effective their message was. I resent the hell out of tax money paying for treatment of those who refuse the vaccine. Frankly, after all the sacrifices we've made trying to contain Covid and stay alive, I truly do not care that naysayers are dying

I’m currently planning my wedding and I joined a wedding group on Facebook (mostly for the lols cuz some women are CRAZY). There was one woman asking for prayers and what not for her fiancé who was in the hospital with COVID. She updated a few times with his condition and finally a few days ago posted that he passed away. It’s so sad to see, but it took so much energy not to comment about how it all could have been avoided if they had gotten the dang VACCINE! She’s in this group begging for sympathy and could have avoided it all together if she and her fiancé had trusted medical experts instead of some random politician on Twitter.
I wonder if her husband's death from COVID made her reconsider her opposition to the vaccine 🤔
novichader :
My fear of getting CoVid is secondary to my fear of giving it to someone else. As much as I wanna live, I refuse to harm or kill. If the risk is killing others then that's too high a cost for me. For this reason, I loathe anti-vaxxers. Edit. To everyone responding, I love you all, your messages are wonderful, you're decent people and exactly what the world needs right now. The worst part of all this is that CoVid is something we are doing to each other, all this heartache and death is being propagated by people in our midst. We shall prevail, good people, we have to.
Good on ya. Empathy is sadly in short supply.
LoloTheWarPigeon :
Someone I know personally now has COVID for a second time (in her 40s). She still refuses to get a vaccine despite her asthma and smoking history. Surprise surprise, she's a trump supporter in Alabama. Can't call her a friend anymore after all this stupid shit

McCabbe :
I know that may sound harsh, but this virus seems to translate more and more into a social and medical darwinistic event.

RussetGold :
You can serve god by being a warning to others on how important the vaccine is. Thank you for your sacrifice

VoxVocisCausa :
Get. Vaccinated. And if you're in a high risk category wear a mask and stay home as much as possible.

CCtenor :
I hate these kind of people. Meanwhile, I’m sitting my christian behind over here going “if God made me, you, and everything in the universe, he must have also given us the wisdom to figure things out and help ourselves”. I believe as much in the miracles Jesus performed as I do in the miracle of ~~misunderstanding~~ [understanding] medicine. God made somebody else smarter than me at medicine, and God gave me brain enough to listen to them when I’m sick. In fact, it’s literally in the bible, that if we tempt God, he’s under no obligation to help us. When Satan was tempting Jesus after Jesus’ 40 days of fasting in the desert, Satan told him “you’re the Son of God, and he’ll protect you, right? Jump off this temple.” And Jesus replied to him “Dad also told me not to mess around and find out.” If Jesus himself, the son of God, with divine protection from his Father, still understood you don’t just go out and tempt fate, I absolutely fail to understand how Christians go around and live life without taking basic and easy precautions against the dangers we face in the world. I masked every single time I left the house. When the vaccine was available, I took it as soon as I was able. I don’t walk much with a mask anymore, as the ~~jar~~ [most] recent CDC guidelines I’m aware of said it was okay for fully vaccinated people to be outside without a mask as long as they’re not gathered in large groups, but I’m going to MegaCon next month and I’m going to be bringing masks to wear at that event. As for me, personally, the Bible is pretty clear. God gave me a brain, and he gave other people on this earth a brain, and he expects me to use it. If, in spite of doing everything I can to protect myself, I then get sick, that’s when I pray for the inexplicable miracle. But there’s plenty of stories and teachings in the bible where God and Jesus plainly state “god can protect you, but you also gotta do what you gotta do, too.”
I liked reading this, thanks.

There's this great story... You remind me of the man that lived by the river. He heard a radio report that the river was going to rush up and flood the town, and that the all the residents should evacuate their homes. But the man said, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." The waters rose up. A guy in a rowboat came along and he shouted, "Hey, hey you, you in there. The town is flooding. Let me take you to safety." But the man shouted back, "I'm religious. I pray. God loves me. God will save me." A helicopter was hovering overhead and a guy with a megaphone shouted, "Hey you, you down there. The town is flooding. Let me drop this ladder and I'll take you to safety." But the man shouted back that he was religious, that he prayed, that God loved him and that God will take him to safety. Well... the man drowned. And standing at the gates of St. Peter he demanded an audience with God. "Lord," he said, "I'm a religious man, I pray, I thought you loved me. Why did this happen?" God said, "I sent you a radio report, a helicopter and a guy in a rowboat. What the hell are you doing here?"

Saw a post where this dude was documenting his demise. It started before he was sick. He go raged about not getting the vaccine.

2021 version of Natural Selection. Sorry folks, at this point you've no one to blame but yourselves. The real tragedy is these mouth breathers taking up hospital beds and resources that could otherwise be used by your Aunt, your Mom, your grandfather, for the basic things like an appendectomy, or heart attack, stroke, etc but NOPE, they get to go home and die now because the hospital can't treat them. Overran and nowhere to put them, with the beds all full of these people.

Get off the fence there mate and tell us what you really think. But you're correct. This pandemic has been tragic but I get a little bit of comfort knowing we'll lose a fair percentage of anti vaxers going forward. Every cloud
