This explains alot

diverareyouok :
Huh, it’s true. > President Donald Trump—who boasted over the weekend that his success in life was a result of "being, like, really smart"—communicates at the lowest grade level of the last 15 presidents, according to a new analysis of the speech patterns of presidents going back to Herbert Hoover. > The analysis assessed the first 30,000 words each president spoke in office, and ranked them on the Flesch-Kincaid grade level scale and more than two dozen other common tests analyzing English-language difficulty levels. Trump clocked in around mid-fourth grade, the worst since Harry Truman, who spoke at nearly a sixth-grade level.
Leaving the dubious science aside, the thing that is nuts is how Trump supporters attack Biden for his manner of speech. I'm like "Have you ever LISTENED to Trump?" He just babbles and rambles nearly incoherently, yet you think BIDEN is a poor communicator?
Dudeist-Priest :
*a lot
Making a joke about someone speaking at a fourth grade level and thinking "alot" is a word is some very cringe shit.
ComplainyBeard :
one of the big reasons he won and that there are so many conspiracy theorists and asinine political beliefs in the US is that the average adult reads at a 7th grade level and the average news article is written at an 11th grade level. Most Americans literally can't understand the world around them regardless of which sources of information you give them. Right-wing news sources take advantage of this by putting out simple narratives in easy to digest language.
So the solution is to elect the lowest common denominator as leader, apparently. The man with a Grade 5 education is King amongst the Grade 3 intelligences so… let’s try to make everyone dumber. That’ll work lol.

Exactly how the Cult can relate to him, “ he’s just like us “. “ he’s one of us “ they say.
Not like that fancy pants darky we had before. Err I hated him so much he kept using big words and complete sentences. Kept telling me my horse and buggy business was done! Tried to offer me options for training to do high paying in demand jobs. Well I showed him I werent no sheep. Hurt my foot at work, going on four years of disability .. checkmate libs. Oh also its not welfare I paid taxes or something.
Total-Cereal :
I talked to a Trump supporter once who said that one of the reasons she liked him was because he didn't use so many complicated words like Obama used and he "talked like a normal person". So this meme isn't even a meme, it's just the truth unfortunately.
To be fair, if you talk directly to a politician they never actually say anything of value, it would be refreshing to hear someone talk normally. That being said trump wasn’t normal himself he just sounded like a moron

Not going to lie that's a complete insult to my fourth grade level granddaughter who is about 167 times smarter than Trump!
I'm inclined to agree with u I have a 3 year old son that has a higher reading level

Considering that most southern states are red and are usually at the bottom of education, this makes total sense. Case in point look at Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama
Aw, the southern states of Trump… keeping ‘em young, dumb & & full of cum or barefoot & pregnant. Wash, Rinse, Repeat… and gerrymander the shit outta them so they “know their place!”

Bingo! But who’s the fool?… the fool or the people who follow the fool or the lawmakers in Congress who kiss the fool’s ring? It’s a circle jerk of Republican fools, & MAGA’s vying for the Orange fools blessing…. Idiocracy! (Rewatch this 🤯)!

That explains why Matt Gaetz likes him so much I guess
Matt Gaetz just likes “Grabbing em by the pussy!” And Trump validated that for him. (VAGINA is a fifth grade word and Trump & Gaetz haven’t added that to their vocabulary word wall list yet.)
Chanaur404 :
One could make an argument that he's playing to an audience and he's not really that dumb, one is THAT good an actor.
He's a con man. They live their life acting

If anyone is curious as to the source of the claim in this meme, it comes from this [non-peer-reviewed article from]( On the plus side, they do present their data and their analysis. I also agree with the conclusions. But I think we should be honest with ourselves that this is NOT an unbiased source - factbase is a privately held company and their analysis is not published in a peer-reviewed journal. It's a real stretch to say that they prooved he speaks at a 4th grade level. I'd say it's more like, "While all presidents have to some degree chosen to speak clearly to citizens while avoiding complex words, Trump skews farther than any previous president in his public speech."

Supergameplayer :
Makes sense, Kevin McCarthy has only shown he can read at a kindergarten level

Digita1B0y :
Yeah, it's fun to laugh and point, but we could all learn something from this. Trump beat one of the most experienced candidates in American history by appealing to morons. I can't stand the imbecile, but I can't deny that he ran a better campaign than Hillary simply by appealing to the basest and lowest common denominator.

This is offensive. I have a daughter going to 4th grade this fall and her vocabulary is huge. Extremely huge. The hugest vocabulary the world has ever seen. People hear her talk and say, “That kid has the absolute hugest vocabulary ever. She’s amazing. She should be President of the United States!”

Fourth grade is a very generous assessment.

pmonk2112 :
My non-medical opinion based on personal experience and literally growing up in NYC since the day Trump became a household name when he got caught with his pants down with Marla Maples: I do believe Trump is suffering from some mental deterioration making him a bit nuts, but Trump has always did what it takes to remain in the spot light. He has found his niche in today's modern media, Just like Bill Maher, Tucker Carlson, Sean Hannity, Rachel Meadows, Etc... has found their niches.

Republicans like their politicians to be smarter than them but just a tiny bit smarter.

bdonaldo :
This comes from a [legitimate academic analysis of presidential language](, in case anyone’s curious. It’s also worth considering *why* this analysis is so stunning. Presidents typically speak in ways their speech writers know to be understandable for the largest audience possible. Obama, for example, spoke publicly at a 9th grade level according to this analysis, but his experience as editor of Harvard Law Review is indicative of a much more advanced idiolect. Trump speaks with fourth-grade proficiency because he’s genuinely [not a knowledgeable person](

volcane2004 :
"Finally, a politician speaking my language!" He's been speaking to the lowest common denominator. Black Mirror's "The Waldo Moment" was clearly ahead of its time.

DescipleOfCorn :
Yeah that’s like at least three grade levels above them

That didn’t take a professional. Just listen to any Fourth grader

So, this is 100% rumor, but I've heard a few people who've worked with Trump say in interviews that he's functionally illiterate. I think it's at least plausible.

finkelzeez42 :
Hey! Don't make fun of him! You know he struggles to keep up with the other kids, so we need to learn to be tolerant of him and give him lots of praise and re-enforcement.

Wagglesomefingers :
Bullshit; don't insult my daughter. My 4th grader's vocabulary is 20x Trump's. And she wears a mask and has a firmer grip on reality.

*Uh oh, Does Donald Trump Know How To Read?* The fireworks start around 7 minutes in And as far as why he appeals to the uneducated in this country, it's because he is just like them, thinks like them and speaks like them More than 50% of Americans have a literary proficiency at a 4th grade level or below... as exhibited by the President who it has been determined speaks as would a 10 year old.
